My imagination always runs free like the ocean. I can remember a a child I would walk upon an empty beach and I would sometimes imagine that I was the only person living on the earth I was a strong yet peaceful warrior, searching for a pirate lover and a new adventure. Now as an adult I have found my pirate and I hold adventures in my right hand with a big old worn out paintbrush.

I paint as if I am seeing things for the first time, I lose myself in my imagination and escape to a place where I feel free. No rules, no noise, no turmoil, just me being free. On goes the paint rich in colour, twisting and turning in all directions, wiping , pressing, stamping, layering, drawing words and smudging them out.My hands are covered thick in paint, as is my palette , the floor ,my paintbrushes and my apron. Hours have passed and yet to me time has not moved an inch.

I love music and I love to dance. I taught dance and still dance to music as part of my fitness routine. I have a deep connection to movement. It’s a natural instinct of mine to move when I hear music. This is the same natural instinct I have to just pick up a paintbrush and simply splash colours around. When I hear a song I easily dance I have no idea what steps I am going to dance , I just dance. I feel the music. It is exactly the same when I paint. I don’t have a plan, images just naturally push through the paint layers. I paint and I trust. I transmit energy of passion and love and that resonates.

Painting for me is a very humbling experience for I am always learning. I am open to new ideas and I am open to mistakes. Its my way I release my inside energy I allow the messy drips of paint to awkwardly do their thing. I honour my imagination and I am truly grateful for all that I have. Who knows what my next adventure will bring or what my next painting will be?

I had such a beautiful childhood.

I was born in a country town called Camden not far from Sydney Australia. My father was a Police Officer and part-time Butcher and my Mother was a craft artisan that worked from home. I lived in Camden til I was about 10 then we had a huge change we moved to the central coast. A beautiful little surf town called Avoca beach. It was an amazing and exciting time to be on the central coast, it was the 1990’s where denim was in and INXS played from your next door neighbours house. The lifestyle was “hit the beach before and after school and if you could learn how to stand up on a surfboard you were called a grommet” so I did just that, I learnt to surf.

I spent a lot of time at the beach if I wasn’t dancing in my room. The beach held a lot of beauty I felt safe and complete. The Ocean was always changing under the huge Australian sky. Anyone who has been to Australia is struck by the beauty of the Beaches. They are incredible, and like most oceans in the world they hold an extraordinary presence. I can just sit for hours and watch waves. I learnt from the ocean that anything is possible.

I am absolutely certain that these years living near the beach at Avoca formed me and have had a huge impact on my life as an artist.

Many many years later, after high school, I found myself always creating and dancing this for me was home.It wasn’t a house necessarily home was within me, no matter where I was in the world I could always return home by creating.

With huge amounts of support from my husband Matt I have always followed my passions in creating businesses that I am able to honour my imagination and always feel like I’m “home”. To me feeling Home is really important, it grounds me as a woman and a mother. Without this I am lost.

With painting there is a sense of adventure when I begin and where I finish. I am completely involved in my artworks putting my body mind and soul into them. Pushing boundaries breaking rules stepping outside the norm it’s a natural process that comes from within. I’m dancing inventing creating and being silent all at once and time stands still.

As a painter, I get to escape to that space inside of myself everyday where there is no limitations there are answers and there is healing. I get close to a feeling of endless wisdom. I knew as a child dancing and performing was only the beginning. Creativity is my destiny and I am grateful to be honouring this with love.
